Originally from Puerto Rico, Dr. Rivera attended Mississippi State University where he obtained his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 1995. He then moved to the Brandon area where he practiced at Brandon Veterinary Hospital and at the Animal  Emergency Clinic of Brandon.  In 1999, Dr. Rivera became the owner of Fish Hawk Animal Clinic and has been serving our area since. His dedication, and true loving care for the animals have earned him nominations as Best Veterinarian In America by the Morris Animal Health foundation  in 2007 and 2008. Dr. Rivera is commited to making sure your "baby" gets the most complete and personalized care in a special way so that his work makes a difference in your pet's and your life.

* Christopher Nalley - Veterinary Assistant

Hello, my name is Christopher (Chris for short). I work at Fish Hawk Animal Clinic as a veterinary assistant. I began working for Dr. Rivera about ten years ago, and had volunteered several years prior to that. I usually can be found working Monday through Friday. I know the inseparable bond that is formed between you and your pets, as I own several different animals of my own. As a licensed wildlife rehabilitator, I also have several that I care for until they can be released back into the wild. I love my job and all the animals and families I help on a daily basis. I am looking forward to caring for your pet and building a lasting relationship.

Hi, my name is Jennifer. First and foremost it is a pleasure to meet you. I work at Fish Hawk Animal Clinic as a veterinary assistant/receptionist. I began working at the clinic almost seven years ago and had volunteered here for about one year prior to that. I had always wanted to work with animals, and originally had aspirations of going to veterinary school. Although my degree changed to Public Health, I still absolutely love my job & would not change it for anything. I work most Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, & Fridays, as well as, every other weekend. Having five dogs, three cats, and a bird myself, I understand just how important your four legged family is and will do my best to help you with whatever you may need. * Kristen Powell - Receptionist   

Hello, my name is Kristen. I am a receptionist here at Fish Hawk Animal Clinic. I have been working for Dr. Rivera for one year now. I am usually found working Monday through Wednesday, along with every other weekend. I graduated from the University of South Florida with a Bachelors of Arts in Business and Marketing. I have had jobs with various companies, but must say I love this one the best. I have two mastiff puppies that run my house, and treat all our client’s pets just as I would treat my own. I am excited to meet you and your pets, and hope you find yourself at home here within our clinic.

* Shauni Kickliter - Receptionist

Hi, my name is Shauni. I began working as a receptionist for Fish Hawk Animal Clinic one year ago. I had always taken my two dogs to Dr. Rivera, and as my interest in veterinary medicine grew he encouraged me to volunteer. When I graduated from Bloomingdale in 2010, he hired me to join his team. I am currently attending Hillsborough Community College to become a certified veterinary technician. Since I am in school most of the week, I usually work Tuesday afternoons and Fridays. I am very passionate about what I do, and look forward to meeting you and your pets.
